Dancing with the Stars Elimination: Maria Menounos and Derek Hough Sent Home

Somebody had to go Tuesday night on Dancing with the Stars. But who? All four couples that remain are so good; they would win in any other year. The fake out was that Katherine Jenkins and partner Mark Ballas would be eliminated after Jenkins twisted her back and botched the ending of their final dance Monday night. A slow motion clip of the screw up was repeated so many times host Tom Bergeron joked that he thought he saw "something behind the grassy knoll." Jenkins, teary and shaken the night before, jumped for joy when it was announced early into Tuesday night's semifinals results show that the phone-in votes had rescued her and that she was headed into the finals. "I'm no doctor but her back looks better now," cracked Bergeron, all of a sudden turning into Jay Leno. Jenkins will be able to carry on with the competition, which concludes next Monday and Tuesday. She tweeted to her fans that she had back spasms and that "I'm feeling better, just a little sore." Katherine's ! escape from jeopardy meant nervous times for the three remaining contestants: William Levy and Cheryl Burke, Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd, and Maria Menounos and Derek Hough. Menounos seemed to have the momentum heading into the finals, coming off her second perfect score. In the end, however, the Extra host just didn't have enough of a phone-in fanbase to defeat the two strong men left in this competition. It came down to Donald and Maria, and Maria lost.
